The Bar of Ireland, who represent barristers throughout the country, have launched an initiative which aims to provide equality of opportunity amongst barristers. This has been set up in order to attempt to resolve the issue of underrepresentation of female barristers at senior counsel level. Currently only 20% of senior counsel are female. It is hoped that this initiative will benefit those requiring legal assistance, across a wide range of legal practice areas.
